Heirloom Redesign

A lot of the jewelry we inherit ends up in a drawer. Maybe it’s your grandmother’s ring that doesn’t fit your style, or a pair of earrings with one stone missing. A rework lets you keep what matters about the piece and turn it into something you’ll wear.

How it works

1. Bring it in. Book a consultation and bring the piece, along with anything else you’d like to combine with it. We’ll ask about its history and what you like to wear day to day. Photos of jewelry you love help too.

2. We look closely at what you have. Our gemologist examines the stones and setting: what the stones are, their condition, whether any are chipped or loose, and what the metal is. This tells us what can be safely reused and what needs attention.

3. We talk through options. Some people want the original piece kept mostly intact with a few repairs or updates. Others want the stones reset into something completely new. We’ll design your piece in CAD so you can see exactly how it will look before anything is made, and give you a quote before any work begins.

4. We make it. Once you approve the design, our jeweler removes the stones, builds the new piece, and resets them. If you’d like, we can melt down the original gold and use it in the new piece, so the metal carries the history too. You’ll get an estimated timeline when you approve the design, and we’ll let you know when it’s ready to pick up.

Free Appraisal Events

A few times a year, we host free appraisal events at our Lake Oswego store. Bring in a piece you’ve inherited and find out what it is, what it’s worth, and what could be done with it. There’s no obligation to start a project. Join our email list to hear about the next one.
